Create delicious meals as you build your resume with Girl Scouts of West Central Florida’s Camp Wildwood or Camp Wai Lani. We’re seeking a Food Service Manager to join a creative team passionate about the benefits of camp and serving girls. Camp Wildwood is set among 600 wooded acres between Tampa and Orlando in Wildwood, FL.  Wildwood’s unique features include an active equestrian center, interactive nature center, a beloved pioneer homestead program, pool, and a beautiful new lakefront with new lakeside cabins. Camp Wai Lani, set on 45 acres directly on the Gulf of Mexico in Palm Harbor, FL and it's features include an active waterfront area to canoe, kayak, and paddleboard bordered by beautiful mangroves, an interactive marine lab, refreshing pool, ceramics kiln, and challenge course with a climbing tower and zip line, and all-air conditioned cabins. You’ll have the opportunity to perform meaningful work preparing nutritious meals in the dining hall for campers ages 6-17 and adult staff.   • Age 18+ required, 21+ preferred.
  • Experience in cooking; commercial style preferred
  • Experience in working with youth
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • Possess or willing to obtain Food Manager certification.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of beliefs and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willing to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
  • Strong human relations skills and have ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including substantial amounts of weekend and evening work.
  • Flexibility to live on-site and in the outdoors in communal living during resident camp season (optional, approximately 8 weeks)
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment.
  • Excellent leadership qualities which include the ability to collaborate, organize and work effectively while using sound judgement
  • Creativity in problem solving.

Physical Aspects of the Position:

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior.
  • Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
  • Ability to safely and properly use kitchen equipment.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
